Eco-design

An approach that takes account, from the research and development phase onwards, of reducing the environmental impact of products throughout their life cycle. Using more environmentally friendly materials and reducing the consumption of resources and harmful discharges are at the heart of it. Within this framework, eco-logistics is concerned both with designing sustainable chains and with re-engineering existing ones, in particular by reducing the environmental impact of warehousing and transport throughout the product's life cycle.
